Our home is very traditional, but my style is more on the eclectic side. I was desperately craving a room that reflected my style, so I decided to do just that in our master bedroom!
I love to look to Pinterest for inspiration, but when you roam the pins for Master Bedrooms, everything is so gray! While I have nothing against the color, I find many of the shades to be depressing. We live in an area that gets a lot of rain and the sky is always gray, so I really wanted to make our room into a bright, cheerful space!
I wanted bold, a little glam and a lot of color. I found inspiration in a teal chesterfield sofa. So I built a teal upholstered bed (check out my DIY here). Meanwhile, I started envisioning the colors I wanted to incorporate and came up with a palette of teal, gold, kelly green and pink. I decided gold would be a great choice for the wall, it would be a nice pop of color and a great contrast the teal bed. I thought about doing a gold grasscloth wall, but it needed a pattern to break up the solids. I searched for an alternate wall covering in a gold pattern and found a couple that I loved (including a brass sequin wall), but they were all out of my budget. So I started looking at stencils. With no luck in that department, I finally decided I needed to do something funky with tape! That’s when I settled on this chevron pattern.
For the bedding, I wanted something neutral. I initially was looking for a white duvet, then I came across this gold trimmed duvet at Target, it was perfect!
The nightstands were inspired by a campaign chest I fell in love with on Pinterest. Unfortunately, campaign style hardware is expensive and a campaign style dresser is out of my budget. Target pulled through again and just happened to have these adorable side tables with the campaign hardware!
For the throw pillows, I was looking for an Ikat print and found this handmade Ikat fabric on Etsy (shop is now closed). I also wanted a pink bolster pillow to tie it all together and found this silk one at another Etsy shop.
This vintage vanity is something my mom bought for me years ago. It’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture! I’ve never had a stool that was the right height, so when I found this pink tufted stool at World Market, I was ecstatic!
I love waking up to bright room filled with happy colors. I think our bedrooms should be a place that evokes happy feelings and a sense of peace. I think I did just that.
