This year we welcomed our third child, ten years ago I had my first. A lot has changed in ten years, especially in the world of baby products!
2017 seems to be the year of babies, I can’t tell you how many people I know are expecting or just had a baby! I love to share products or life hacks that work for us with other mamas, so I’m sharing with all of you. I put together a list of my favorite, must have products! I’ll explain the reasons for each one.

- Fisher-Price Baby Bouncer
These inexpensive bouncers are the best! They have more spring in them which makes keeping baby calm a breeze. A bouncer is the one thing I tell new moms is the #1 must have product. It’s the only way I’ve ever managed to get a shower with a new baby! A bouncer is a safe place to put the baby, it’s small and easily taken from room to room and it’s comfortable, so baby likes to be in it. If you’re on a budget and can’t afford a swing or mamaroo, this is really all you’ll ever need!
- Philips AVENT Natural Bottle
When I had my first child, a family friend who was a mama to three gave these bottles to me as a gift. She swore by them, so I used them. I never had any issues with gas or a colicky baby so when baby number two came around, I bought them again. I’ve heard many people rave about the Dr. Brown bottles. The thing I don’t like about those are all the parts. I like simple and Avent bottles are simple and work well for my babies!
- Munchkin Dishwasher Basket
Best invention ever! Makes cleaning your bottle a breeze and you don’t loose parts in the dishwasher!
- Spectra Breast Pump
This pump knocks Medela out of the water!! It is so comfortable, it doesn’t suck, it suckles. So gentle and easy to use.
- Mommy’s Bliss Gripe Water
One of my girlfriends gave this to me in a gift bag when I had my second. This was a product she swore by. One night Kip was fussy and nothing seemed to calm him down, so I got this out, gave it to him and he loved it. Calmed him down instantly. It’s a must in my medicine cupboard.
- Honest Shampoo & Body Wash My kids have sensitive skin so I initially bought California Baby Sensitive Skin body wash. When I finally tried Honest Company’s body wash, we were hooked. It smells great, gets them clean and is gentle on their sensitive skin.
- Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads
I have washable nursing pads that I use at night, but they show up under my clothes. I bought some of these and they are discreet and stay in place. I use these when I’m out of the house for longer than an hour or two. I’ve used other brands and found these are the most comfortable, other ones aren’t as soft on the skin and make me feel itchy.
- Milkbarn Burp Cloths
I saw these at a toy shop and loved the prints. Then I realized how large they were! I never bothered with traditional burp cloths because they are so small and when Kip would spit up (he had acid reflux) anything smaller than the size of my chest wouldn’t catch it. I used hand towels about 90% of the time, but when we would travel, I’d take these. The other great thing about this product, is they double as a carseat blanket. They are large enough to cover your baby and keep them warm without needing to tote an extra blanket around.
- Baby Jogger City Select Stroller
I bought the Baby Jogger Summit X3 Jogging Stroller when I was pregnant with Kip. I love the X3 for taking on hikes, gravel roads, and the beach, but when I found out I was pregnant with our third I knew I needed a double stroller. I didn’t want a side-by-side double. When your pushing a stroller in a store, it’s hard enough maneuvering around some displays with a single, I couldn’t imagine using a side by side! The city select is so slick. It can be used as a single, or add a second seat for a double (or a “ride-a-long board” for a third!). If you think you’ll be having another baby soon, I would definitely recommend this stroller. The seats are easy to snap in, the stroller in compact enough to fit in my mid size SUV and is a breeze to fold in half. It also has a retractable handle bar so it’s a great choice if your tall.
- 4moms MamaRoo
This wasn’t something I was going to buy because I had already splurged on a stroller and a carseat, but I found one on clearance for $75, so I jumped on it. I’m so glad I did, my babies love this! It has multiple settings, like car ride or kangaroo, multiple speeds, and you can even connect your phone to it to play baby’s favorite music. My favorite part is they designed the buttons so you can touch them with your foot, no need to bend over!
- Little Unicorn Brookside Tote
I love the sleek design of this diaper bag, it totally fits my style! I was so excited to finally find a sophisticated diaper bag. It’s well designed and has enough slots for everything. It even comes with a matching changing pad.
- Honest Company Diapers If you haven’t already read my natural diaper review, check it out here. I started ordering the Honest Co bundles when we had our second. They are a great quality diaper, made from all natural materials (great for sensitive skin) and the bundles are so convenient.
- Boudreaux’s Butt Paste
My husband thinks this stuff is magic. I would agree. Diaper rashes clear up quickly with this paste!
- Eddie Bauer Changing Pad
This is another must have item! When I don’t want to take the diaper bag with me, I throw a couple diapers in the pouch, fold it up and throw it in my purse with some wipes. Public restrooms usually have a changing station, but think how dirty they can be! I always have this changing pad with me.
- LILLEbaby Baby Carrier
I love that you can unzip the front in the warmer months to expose mesh to help keep you and the baby cool. In the colder moths, you keep it zipped up and stay warm. You’ll want something that belts around the hips to distribute the baby’s weight evenly. I had a Baby Bjorn before and it was really hard on my back because all of baby’s weight is placed on your shoulders. This one is comfortable for long periods of time. I love to take this on hikes or when I go shopping and don’t want to take the stroller (like Costco trips).
- Lalabu Soothe Shirt
I received this as a gift from my mom with my newest baby. I really love this shirt! I almost always wear it when I go to the grocery store because my toddler & groceries take up most of the shopping cart. This way I don’t need to bring in the carseat, I don’t need to put on a baby carrier and I have two free hands while I’m shopping.
- Little Unicorn Muslin Swaddle Blankets
I love how lightweight these are, they are my favorite to use in the summer. Plus, Little Unicorn has some of the cutest designs!
- Nuna Pipa Infant Car Seat
I was looking into this seat while I was expecting our second. I knew I wanted an infant car seat instead of jumping right into a convertible. I wanted to be able to remove the carseat and take it with me in and out of places to avoid waking the baby. You can’t do that in a convertible seat. I loved the sleek design of the Nuna and it had great safety ratings, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend the money. Well, Kip came early and surprised us while we were out of town. I called Jenna at Swanky Babies (one of the best baby shops you’ll ever find, located in Eastern Washington) and asked her what she had in stock. She had the Nuna in black and the Britax in red. I don’t really like red and since the price and safety ratings between the two was similar, I chose the Nuna (Jenna even delivered to the hospital after hours). I’m so glad I did. I love the level on the base and the built in sun shade. My babies have been comfortable in the seat and can go for long car rides without fussing.
I never read reviews until I met my husband and now I love to do research before buying a product. I hope that this information will be helpful to anyone shopping for a baby!
